Basil Brook Organic Pharm is also the home of Gibby the goat and Frosty our lambalong with Bruno, our Chocolate Lab.and four kittiesTim, Tiger, Target, and Chester.Since 2000, the farm has provided energy conservation education as a community service. Basil Brook is one of the first wildcrafting organic farms in the State of New Jersey The farm's passive solar home has solar hot water system and a recently expanded, grid tied, photovoltaic system provides electricity. A passive solar potting shed had been the most resent addition to the farm.The design and construction of the ENERGY STAR, active/passive solar “green” building/home serves as an education tool. The League of Woman Voters, NESEA Groups, The Hunterdon County Parks Department, Congressman Rush Holt, Architects, contractors, individual home builders, and college students, have attended energy education tours at Basil Brook. Off site energy education is also provided throughout New Jersey.
Basil Brook Organic Pharm Internship Program: For the 2009 season, we are seeking 3-4 hard working interns April through November. We offer a great learning experience through a hands-on approach to all aspects of farming and alternative energy. Work will include seeding, planting, harvesting, cultivating, attending road side farm stand, along with the many other jobs associated with running the farm.
